I was telling his Mom that if he was mine, there wouldn't be enough hours in the day for me to process all of the pictures I would take of him! He changes EVERY DAY. So hard not to go nuts with the camera.Josiah006.JPGJosiah007.JPGWhat a miracle! He was born early after ten weeks of bed rest at the hospital by his Mom. Doug and Kate | B&W Session

When we arrived at Susie and Don's house (Grandmommy and Granddaddy to the twins), we were like, "YES-this window is HUGE!!!" We had been wanting to do a window-lit black and white session of the twins for their birthday, and it turned out wonderfully! Another testament as to why we LOVE home sessions.

Highlights of the session: the huge caterpillar pillow, which made for a perfect posing tool, Doug showing us his belly-rubbing skills (haha), and Will and his moving background. lol.

Allison | 1 month

Happy Sigh. A baby girl, at last. Her tiny little mouth...the bows and frilly outfits we'll get to photograph her in...SOOO delightful. How do Mom and Dad keep from buying every adorable baby girl thing out there?!?

Allison is adorably precious.AllisonB0003.jpgThis christening gown is a 19th century family heirloom that was worn by several generations in Allison's family. I think she looks like an actual doll in this one. How perfect is her little yawn?AllisonB0002.jpg

She stayed awake for most of the session even though she was fighting sleep. At the end of the session, she finally fell asleep and the curled up sleeping pictures ended up being my favorites. Love this wrinkly baby skin.

Jesse, my latest love.

This boy is the sweetest. We decided to try something new with this session. We came to Jesse’s house instead of bringing him to the studio. We kept it really simple, bringing only a small black backdrop, which we draped over the back of a chair, a furry rug, and a basket. This way we could use window light and focus on close-ups of Jesse’s adorable baby features that will only be this way for such a short time.

This was AWESOME.  I may never go back to having parents bring their kids to the studio when they are young. First of all, it was his environment. Home field advantage is the best for a young one. They aren’t in a new scary place, and they are much more willing to be relaxed and playful. I spent the first few minutes playing with him without the camera and letting him show me his toys and his new trick, clapping, which he is INCREDIBLY proud of. It’s so cute.

Secondly, I got to raid Jesse’s closet before we started the pictures. His Mom had some favorites that we brought out, and I was able to throw in some fun clothing combinations and to give my input so that the focus stayed on the baby and not on his clothes. I love playing dress up.

Finally, there’s not that “sit there and smile” pressure that you get when “we’re going to the photographer.” I got to see his real expressions, and Mom didn’t have to jump up and down to get them. No bribery necessary! I think that this will work on Jesse for many years to come.

So think about this for your child’s next session. You’ll get so many more choices because a happy baby = more time to get those awesome shots we crave. And we won’t even judge your messy house (haha, if you had even SEEN ours, you would know why…).

The many faces of Jesse. I can guarantee that I would never have seen most of these if we weren't at his house. SOOO so cute. The bottom right is our absolute favorite.

JesseH003.JPG

JesseH004.JPG

The pouty lips. Jenna says that when she wants his Grandma to babysit, she just brings Jesse to her wearing this hat. Works every time.

JesseH005.JPG

I am so happy that we got this one. He has just those two bottom teeth right now, and we really wanted to show his tooth progress in the pictures.

JesseH006.JPG

JesseH007.JPG

Gaining his trust with the clapping ahead of time really paid off. Now he is doing it every chance he gets, even with the camera around! Yay.

Got this one during a wardrobe change.

Babies don't need cute outfits to look great in pictures. Take advantage of these shots while you can! After 1-2 years of age, it'll just be creepy. But for now, adorably CUUUTE, and captured forever to show his future dates.

Collin's Newborn Session

Collin was born just thirteen days ago, and we were really excited to get him in for pictures while he was still in his “newborn” state. He currently weighs only six pounds, and he really looks tiny with his wrinkly skin and itty bitty baby arms and legs. We love the pictures that show his size next to his Dad’s hands and in the tiny basket.

James and Natalie, thank you for bringing him in! He is so amazing and perfect.

Their Little Miracle

We’ve been averaging two weeks before putting our favorite sessions and weddings on our blog, but this sweet, SWEET baby was so precious that we couldn’t wait.

Here is Walker, almost two weeks old and already a model subject. He has a way of staring up at you with these gorgeous blue eyes that will make you melt into a puddle.

Other cute Walker habits: sticking his tongue out, putting his bottom lip out indignantly, and quivering his chin when he cries to make you feel really sorry for him and give in to his every whim. Oh, and he also has feet exactly like LD’s, but the father/son feet pictures are reserved for their private gallery ;)

Lauren and Will

This was the part where Walker really started to take to the camera. Look at his tiny little outfit!

Walker001.JPG

This might be our favorite.

Walker003.JPG

Perfect expression.

Walker002.JPG

Yes, these three are similar, but we felt that each one was necessary to post. He’s looking right at you in this one. And look at his perfect little mouth.

Walker004.JPG

I love the way Hillary’s eyelashes are barely visible through wisps of hair in this one. One of the imperfect things that makes a perfect picture.

Walker005.JPG

The indignant look I was talking about.
